behind the scenes: MY LOOK for my final bow!

Hey blog!!

For the next installment of my blog series on my NYFW show, Sustainable Fashion is a Cabaret, I’ll be exploring a look that holds a particularly personal significance—my own!

Taking my final bow, I stepped out in a bold, tomato-splattered ensemble, a nod to one of the theater’s juiciest traditions. This piece was more than just a playful finale; it was a statement designed to disarm and delight, ensuring that if critiques were coming, I’d already “beaten them to it!” 🍅 Laugh and the world laughs with you, cry and you cry alone!

The concept for this look has been simmering in my imagination for years, with subtle hints of it appearing throughout past works. Bringing it to life on the NYFW stage felt like the perfect culmination of that vision—a saucy, spirited commentary on the intersection of fashion, humor, and performance.

At its core, this piece—and the collection as a whole—celebrates the power of taking creative risks, embracing the unexpected, and weaving humor into the fabric of storytelling. It’s a marker of where I’m headed in my journey as a designer: bold, boundary-pushing, and unapologetically full of energy and wit. But never taking things too seriously and always in on the joke!

The companion piece to my look is just as juicy! You can now have your very own tomato crewneck sweatshirt :) The crewneck is available in sizes XS to 3XL and handmade by me in my Brooklyn studio.

For all my creators out there who love to see my process, you can watch me make my tomatoes in this reel!

Until the next act!

Daniel
