behind the scenes: THE DOVE

Hello Blog!

One more post about the final performer from my NYFW show as part of my blog series: behind the scenes of Sustainable Fashion is a Cabaret! In this post I'm going to tell you all about the look worn by cabaret legend Justin Vivian Bond titled The Dove!

One of the defining moments of the evening was Justin Vivian Bond’s finale look, crafted from Alexandra Socha’s pearl-encrusted wedding veil. I originally designed the veil for Socha’s 2022 wedding to fellow Broadway star and her real-life leading man Etai Benson. After the wedding, Alexandra returned the veil to me in the hopes it would one day be reimagined.

On the evening of Monday September 9th, the veil returned as a stunning piece in my new collection, reflecting my commitment to circularity and transforming cherished materials into something fresh and meaningful. A vision of white in billowing tulle, Bond represented the dove, a reference to the notions of peace, love, and hope.

In my newest collection inspired by the cabaret, the companion piece to The Dove look is a black sweatshirt with white flowers on the sleeves, reminiscent of those in her headpiece! Don't miss your chance to get your own florals for winter crewneck, available in sizes XS to 3XL. Each one is handmade by me in my Brooklyn studio.
Let me know what you think of the piece in the comments!
xx
Daniel
